Radio and Food Allergies

Yesterday I headed out to Weatherford to finish off the work week.  Thankfully I was able to get out the door quickly because Mark said he would drop off the kids.  I got up and was running my 5 miles at 5 am and by 7 am I was out the door for work.
Over the past couple of weeks I have been keeping myself entertained, on my 2 hour drives to and from work, with running podcasts.  I LOVE my Sirius/XM channel 81 and will never abandon it, but the running podcasts have been a little change of pace.  I have really enjoyed RunnersConnect, The Running Podcast, and I'm not sure I want to admit it, but Two Gomers: Run for Their Lives makes me giggle and shake my head.  I always think about the other drivers on the road and if they see me laughing my head off and wonder, "Has that girl lost her mind?"  I have been known to laugh hysterically in the car all by myself.  I also sing at the top of my lungs while driving.  I definitely sound like Carrie Underwood, I'm sure of it. :) Speaking of laughing your head off, if you ever get a chance to  listen to XM radio on Thursday mornings at 8 am, Dr. Billy is the funniest show ever.  The subject matter he and his colleagues discuss is Emergency Medicine, but his side bar conversation is totally off topic, hilarious and makes my drives fly by.  Yes, I admit it.  Channel 81 is Doctor Radio.  Hi, My name is Meredith and I am a nerd.
Speaking of nerd, to my fashionable friends, is it okay when the weather is 90+ degrees, to wear a summer scarf?  Are people looking at me like I'm confused about my seasons?  Wearing a short sleeved shirt and a scarf?  I've seen other people do it and think it looks super cute, but when I tried it out yesterday I was self conscious about it.

At lunchtime, I ran in a new smoothie place that I had never seen before.  It was located next to a gym, so I figured they would probably have some good stuff.  Luckily for me they did!  I chose a Mango, Coconut and Pineapple High Protein smoothie and homemade granola bar.  It was delicious!  I immediately thought, I will always stop here before hitting the road to head home.  After finishing my smoothie, I had a different thought though.  My stomach immediately began to hurt, I felt a bit sick to my stomach and decided I would never want that smoothie again.  It is never fun to be driving when all you want to do is get in the fetal position.  After about 30-45 minutes the feeling was gone and I was okay.  I downed some water to try and flush my system and that seemed to do the trick.  All I can think is, a while back Mark and I were doing a clean eating thing and after each of my workouts I would make a smoothie with frozen bananas and a whole bunch of other stuff like kale and veggies.  If the banana was in there I would have a similar stomach ache and it was always after consuming the shake.  If I removed the banana from the concoction I wouldn't have it.  I had never heard of people having banana allergies but after researching online I found out that there is such a thing and if you are allergic to banana, then you are more than likely to be allergic to mangos and avocados as well.  BUMMER!  I love all of those.  I am not cutting any of that from my diet, but it seems that in their frozen state they don't always seem to work for me.  I have eaten plenty of bananas in my life and never had a problem. Why now?  I'm assuming if the internet was correct and if my smoothie contained the mango it advertised, then that may have been why my stomach reacted that way.

Anywho, that's the news!  I better run, kids are waking one at a time and asking for breakfast!  Hope you had a great Friday and are enjoying your weekend!

Do you have Sirius/XM radio?  Do you have a favorite channel, Why?
