Anywho, the family watched the closing ceremonies of the Olympics last night and I was a bit teary. It really was a great Olympics and I'm sad it is over. I have to say that I enjoyed it all, but really enjoyed watching beach volleyball. Talk about not being able to take a breather. Wow!! I had plenty of other faves such as Jenny Suhr winning women's pole vault and the finish of the 10,000m race. Incredible! I'm also a fan of Missy Franklin! What a great girl, example to others and so grown up for such a pressure situation. Pure talent.
I was a bit tired this morning since we stayed up late to watch the ceremonies and 4:45am came early. Had a 3 mile recovery run after the 6 miles we ran yesterday. I have to say that getting back into shape is a lot harder than staying in shape. I've decided to save myself from using my brain early is to go to bed dressed in my running gear. Sad? I know.
I had to send T a picture of my running gel stash that I replenished last week. She responded back, "now that's momma's candy jar!" I couldn't agree more. A few shot blocks are a great morning carb jolt to get you going super early. I have to have something in my stomach before running or else I just crater half way through the run. We have agreed to try to get back in running shape for the Children's Miracle Run in November. We did it last year and I'm praying that the wind is nothing like it was. The first 10k was straight into the bitter, cold wind.
Well, that's it folks! I'll leave you with some Slim Shady.....
