It cracks me up how the holidays have exploded around here once Ella and Hayden began going to Mother's Day Out. Last week when I picked up the kids, Ella told me it was Valentine's Day. I told her it was January and that it at least needed to be February before we started cutting out the hearts. I guess the teachers needed some more art projects because when I glanced up at the door, there was Ella's red heart taped to the glass. Everyday since Ella has asked me if it is Valentine's Day yet. Nope. However, I caved and decided since we were invited to dinner over at my in laws, it was acceptable for us to have a Valentine card making party.

Last week as I was searching through my google reader faves, I ran across a cute idea found at
Blue Cricket Design. I loved the idea of stitching a picture to paper and liked how she attached fabric to cutesy it up. After we (I) completed my project, I decided that the kids didn't get to participate as much as I hoped they would get to. Feeling a little guilty for taking over, I encouraged them to draw their own pictures and then I stitched them to the cover valentine I had made. I loved this idea and now I need to make some more for the rest of the loves in our lives!!! Let me know if you have any other cute homemade valentine ideas!

Ella hard at work, notice the nice gouge and bruise around her eye? We still have no idea how it happened. She woke up one morning and voila! Amazing how kids can stub their toe and the world comes to an end, but they bust their eye and don't remember how they did it? Crazy. I'm pretty sure I would have remembered how that happened. So far I have 5 different stories.

Ella also wanted to cut the pages out of her coloring book, so here she is with her steady hand trimming away the sides. Makes me nervous!!! However, the picture is really all about me practicing my picture taking skills. More to come about that on the next post.

One of her beautiful masterpieces. Hayden had already crashed for his nap and I forgot to take pictures of his artwork. I just kept asking him to add more color too it. Boys! :) He was happy with his black and blue crayons.
