SurvivalParentMode.org

As you all know from my last post I had the opportunity to meet some really neat girls from blogland. One of the neatest things about meeting these women is that all of us had similar interest and stories ranging from cameras and picture taking to NICU stays and young children.

One girl named Mandy has started an organization to help families out that are having to spend time in the NICU or PICU. Her site allows people to sign up to help these families when they don't have the ability to get home and take care of their everyday needs. She then goes through her database of volunteers and contacts them to see if they can help once the family contacts her. As you all know, our son spent two weeks in the NICU when he was born and we would not have been able to survive had it not been for our families. After meeting several other parents in the NICU, I learned that we were very fortunate because many people find themselves in the NICU without having any family near by to help them. I have been eager to find a way to give back and this just seemed like a great way.

If anyone is interested please visit her site, www.survivalmodeparent.org to get some more information. If volunteering in this way is not something you are able to do at this point in life, but you still would like to help this organization there are several other ways you can help through survival kit donations and other items. Just click on the link to find out! Thanks!!
