The beautiful cactus!!
Just another crazy weekend with the Powell's. Friday and Saturday were laid back, not alot going on, but on Sunday after church we went out to our friend's land so that Mark could help with their fence. While we were there the kiddos were outside and I decided it would be a great idea to load all of them up and walk down to see how the guys were coming along on the fence. So, I went out the car and unloaded the stroller. I had told Ella to stay on the back porch because the snakes are out pretty bad right now. Anyway, my child that does not pay attention takes off running towards me to jump in the stroller, her favorite. I reached down to grab her and just as I did this is what I saw......Yes, a rattlesnake with 6 rattles on his tail. It was within a few feet of Ella and I grabbed her and took off running. Nope, I didn't kill it, I didn't have keys to the car or else I would have run over it, and don't even expect me to come after it with anything else. I don't care to get close at all. I did get a picture though so we could post it on Snakes Most Wanted. Ha! ha! UGH!!!! I have never been that close to a rattlesnake and I don't really want that opportunity again. Mark and Ben however, did manage to kill one out by the fence so I have a feeling those buggers are all over the place after all this rain. So, on with the story......no we don't manage to kill the snake, but we do manage to accidentally hit a rabbit and deer in the middle of the day heading home. I felt bad for the rabbit, but not the deer seeing how we just got all the kinks worked out with the Suburban we just bought. It was used so we had some things fixed on it and had a grill guard put on just for that very reason. Well, that dumb deer decided to jump out of the bushes and run right into the driver side door. That grill guard is WORTHLESS!!!!!! So, now my "new" car has a HUGE dent on the drivers side. We tried to go back and find the deer, but somehow I guess it managed to live long enough to get out of dodge because we couldn't find it. Just a great reminder that we all need to be safe when driving in the country AND when deer season comes around again, everyone need to aim for one on our behalf!!
