Stealing Ideas and Fun Projects

Yes, I am guilty as you can see from many of my previous posts that I steal crafty ideas from others out in blogland. Here are some recent projects that Ella has done. Atleast I let you know where I orginally got the idea. :) Here is some Fall artwork I let Ella do. I came up with this on my own. I had some canvases and I thought she would enjoy painting with her hands. I cut a potato in the shape of a leaf and then pulled out all my Fall colors and let her get to work. I tried to make her hand the tree, but that only worked so well. This idea stemmed from some that I did with my little Mother's Day out class back in Midland. Except I'll save the good ones for Christmastime!! Since Ella was still interested in painting I pulled out the construction paper and let her have at it.

Here is a science project we got from here. It is super cool even for adults. I really enjoyed it. It uses milk, food coloring and dish soap. Very cool.
Now on to the backyard. We have a new visitor. Mr. Crane. He has been found in the backyard the past 4 mornings stealing our fish for his morning breakfast. Now, I knew that he was big just from looking out the back window and also when he would fly off. His wingspan in amazing, however Mark was able to confirm this morning that Mr. Crane stands taller than me. W-O-W! Seriously wow. Anywho, we are getting further along on our fencing project. We thought that it would be a no go this weekend because of the anticipated rain, but none fell. Soooooo, after we got in from church we took advantage of this cool day! It is wonderful to be outside. I told Mark I wanted to move to wherever it was this temperature all day long, all year long. I came to the conclusion that may just have to be in Heaven. :) I'm loving it right now though!! So, here is a picture of the fence we've completed this far. Some of you were wondering how tall it really is. The posts are tall, but we are cutting them after we finish the slats. It will end up being a little over 4 feet tall. Not 6 like it looked in the original pictures. Alright, that's all folks!

Crazy Crane!

Far off view from the porch. We actually finished the whole side by Sunday evening. It took us forever just because there are 32 slats per panel. The weather was fantastic though and the kids had a blast running around in the backyard. We also were able to cut the tops off the post and will be getting toppers for the post so it looks nicer. We are in love with it so far. I'll post another picture once we finish the whole thing!

Your backyard is GIGANTIC! I can't believe all of the wildlife you've had back there. Crazy!

I've been thinking about potato painting for a while, I just need to do it. Looks like Ella had fun!!

You are so crafty, I just love it! You really are a lady of many talents! And looks like I need to run across the street and "hop the fence" and see what's up at the Powell house! I'm missing some fun stuff! And I miss you!!! Can't wait to see the new projects you have done in person, and see the backyard! There wasn't that much grass AT ALL last time I looked out there! Love ya!

Love the projects...you make an art teacher very proud!

Mr. Crane also visits us here across the street in our neighborhood pond. Who knew he was such a commuter? ;)
