My Windows Are Open!!

Once again...not anywhere near where I live, probably not even something you would find in this great state of Texas, but I can dream, can't I? (Found picture on this site. Don't want to break any copyright laws.)

I know that is a crazy title for a post, but I cannot help but scream it from the rooftops! I don't know if my friends up north heard my plea and sent cooler weather to me.......(hey that rhymes), but it is 8am right now and is still 67 degrees. Can I hear a Yee haw, Amen, Hallelujah, something folks.....I am ecstatic. I knew that a cold front was suppose to move in over night, and I know this will only last for a few hours, but any relief from the heat and the hint of a season in West Texas is always a welcomed blessing. I'm just praying now that the flies, spiders and mosquitoes do not find their way in my un-screened windows. Yikes!! I'll have the bug spray ready. I also made sure to take my allergy medicine before opening those wonderful windows. Oh, and lit some candles too!!! Yippee! Fall!!! Maybe a little early to say that, but I've always wished for long Falls and Springs. Moving on Meredith.........
So figuratively speaking, my windows or eyes in this matter are open to new projects everyday. As Shannon mentioned on her blog, I'm trying to find fun activities for the kiddos. I don't want them to turn into Barney addicts so I'm trying to do some fun things. From the Sycamore Stirrings blog, I found a fun way to feed my kiddos! They filled a muffin tin with 12 different food items. Yes, this is a TON of food, but between two kids they were able to put a pretty big dent in it. I know that mine was filled with lots of carbs and not so healthy choices, but this was my first attempt and now that I know they loved it, I am willing to invest the time in finding some fun things at the store that provide color and healthy snacks. They were willing to try anything if it was in the muffin tin. By the way do you see that little hand grabbing for a baby carrot first??Who would have thought? The items I used in my tin were peas, peanuts, strawberry yogurt, carrots, manderine oranges, applesauce, frosted mini wheats, cheerioes, ritz crackers, pretzels, goldfish and crasins. In the meantime, I once again have done another project from Melly and Me's blog. This time I would like to introduce Ginger the Giraffe. I know you are all asking, when are you doing this? Are you tying your children up and hiding them in the closet so they don't bother you? Are you locking them outside? What are you doing? Actually these guys have had several steps that I broke up into several nap times. (I still have housework to get done too.) However, the giraffe was quick! I had already made my own pattern several days ago, but I was able to have her all stuffed and stitched up before the kids woke up. I added finishing touches while the kids had their afternoon snacks. Anyway, I think I am almost ready to move on to using my fabric on some other things, but I have enjoyed Ella and Hayden's reactions to the new animals. By the way, I love that fabric and especially since I found it 60% off $2.99/yd. at my Hancock's store!!! That's all for today folks! I know, more than one post in a week!! Craziness must be here at the Powell house!! Nope it's just feeling like Fall and I'm happy!! Bring on those pumpkins.......or pumpkin bread.....

The muffin tin is a GREAT idea! I will be using it in the near future!!

The giraffe is adorable, of course! I was curious when you had all this time to sew. I'm glad it's not all in one sitting. I'd be too jealous:)
