The title of this post can be taken as sarcastic and non-sarcastic. The first half of the post will be a tad bit on the sarcastic side and the second half will be, well, you get the drift. Saturday rolled around and we had a job to do. As you have probably figured out by now, our backyard has the big, man made tank that makes Momma's nervous. It has been something that has been a super big concern to me as I am afraid that our kids are going to sneak out into the backyard and drown. We have talked, priced and debated over what kind of fence we wanted to put in and in the end we decided to build our own. Yes folks, I said, "we" would build "our" own fence.....that means us, me, Mark, US! My back is still aching and we are not even half way done. We did however dig 23 post holes and set 23 posts around the tank. We will fence approximately 240 feet when this is all said and done. We are really excited about it as the kids will be safe and it should add alot to the yard after we landscape it, etc. This will be a work in progress for probably the rest of the year, but atleast we've finally started it. I have posted pictures of the big dirt auger we use to dig the holes. That thing weighs a ton and is like holding up a lawnmower motor next to your body. If any bit of dirt falls back in on the machine as you drill down, you have to do a power squat which feels like 200+ pounds. I do not feel bad for not having worked out this last week as that day was enough to last me for a whole month of workouts.

See, I really was out there helping.....and look how happy I am! ;)
This was our life saver. We could not have dug those holes by hand. Too much rock!

The perfect hole, I must say!

Our little helpers, of course.

Necessities for any fence builder....those gloves were a life saver.
More help from the kids!
Moving on.....last night was alot of outdoor fun. We went to a friends house after church and had a cookout. The best part about it is that these friends raise their own chickens. The kids we ecstatic to feed the chickens and chase them around the backyard. They were too cute. I'll let the pictures tell the story! Hope you all are starting off to a great week!!
Feeding the chicks.

These are actually called, guineas.
These are the chickens. Sorry for the blury pictures.

Hayden having a serious conversation with the chicken.

Y'all are so impressive! I'm sure the chickens loved having the kids chase them around! Looks like fun!
Your alphabet crayons are too cute! I may have to steal your idea for some gifts!
The one thing we do NOT have to do to this house is the fence! Yuck! I am so glad! On one hand, can you think of anything less fun than building a fence?...and on the other hand, they are so expensive for someone else to do. It's a lose, lose situation. I like it when Chad brags to people about how much "man work" I do around the house. I cannot imagine how much bragging Mark must be doing about you today! You go girl!
So what kind of fence did you decide? Looks like a tall wood fence. Way to go...I helped CJ do some of ours and do not really want to help again. (But I probably will when we do the other side) Way to go.
Looks like yall have been having hardwork and fun! Love the chicken pics.
