Surprise Party!

This last weekend was a lot of fun and a lot of secret hard work. Mark will be turning 30 on December 21st. It has been a long time running joke that Mark said maybe once, that he wished that his birthday didn't get rolled into Christmas. I mean the poor guy has had it happen several times from me when I say, "This gift is kind of your birthday AND Christmas gift." I am ashamed to say that I have done that to him. So, I decided that we would make his 30th on it's own, not to be lost in the holiday festivities. I am proud to say we pulled it off thanks to our friend Kevin that kept Mark occupied all day until the party.

Several months ago I got the great idea from the blog, Hostess With The Mostess, for a Wii Bowling Tournament Party. How great! Definitely a "guy" theme and perfect since we have a Wii. I definitely spent more time on Mark's 30th than I did Hayden's 1st, but as one friend would put it, Mark will remember his party a lot more than Hayden will remember his! True! Here are some pictures from the party.
You can't really see the banner or balloons in this picture, but you get an idea.

Here is the table decorated. I didn't have all the food on their yet, but once again you get the idea. To the left of the cake are the birthday favors, Wii remotes filled with gum. Got that idea from Hostess with the Mostess too. I found mine at Hastings when you check out. My kids love them because they think they are playing with the real thing.

I made everyone bowling shoe name tags since we had several people that didn't know each other. Here are some of our party guest. Not everyone had arrived yet, but we enjoyed eating, playing Wii, sitting by the fire outside while the guys watched the football game. Overall I would say we had a good time. :)

I attempted making Bakerella's cake pop's and my results were less than great. Let's just say there was a lot of confusion as to whether the bowling pins really looked like bowling pins. Eek!! They tasted good though, I just don't have my candy dipping down to an art form. This is one of those things that I had thought out in my head and knew would turn out and then they flopped. Oh well. They made for a good laugh!I also made a Wii remote cake which I did not decorate so great, but everyone got the idea. I have this strange perfectionist thing with decorating cakes and this one started going down hill fast, especially after I had already dumped one layer on the floor and had to make a whole other cake. Once we started messing up, I just quickly squirted icing on and was done with it. Once again, it was the idea.......right?????

Had to have an official scoreboard!

Happy 30th babe! That sure was a torch on your cake, huh? I love you!

You are the best...once again! Great party! I had so much fun getting to visit with everyone and was sorry I had to leave early. Anyhow, you are a great wife, and mommy, regardless of your "bowling pin" making skills! Okay, I'll stop there! ;)
