Ack!

I have been a horrible blogger this past week! I had an overnight that got me behind with housework, etc, which makes me crazy and keeps me from blogging. I didn't intend on falling so far behind here, but that's life and I want to blog again, I just need to get use to it! I promise to post the remaining parts of our vacation but I have to be at home to do that..... Moving on....

Last week I thought I would be a genius and run in my new minimalist shoes....remember these??

Well, instead of stopping by the house after mile 1, I ran the entire 6 miles in them. Dumb, dumb girl. I could not walk for a week!!! My calves killed me and honestly the only thing that relieved my pain was wearing my heels. Bad idea though because that just kept my calves from stretching out.  I wore these....

And this.....
Watched the KT video to find out how to put the tape on, only problem is putting it on yourself.  Seems like you need a team of people to get it correctly done!  Anywho, if you do this to yourself, would you please tell me how to do it? Also, note to those who are thinking of trying this, make sure you have newly shaven legs  and NO lotion.  Will not stick and if any lotion remains, AND, congrats, you have now waxed your legs with tape if you decided to do this without shaving.

The only thing that helped was the 10 mile run I did a week later that helped warm up, stretch out and heal my broken calves.  I hope to NEVER do that again. Slowly moving towards the Merrell barefoot is the goal. Definitely not a good idea when training for a marathon.

In other news, remember this.....

Well, today it is getting filled in!!!! Hooray!!!! We spent this morning while I was in my work clothes and high heels, trying to save the fish from getting buried with the new dirt. We were able to retrieve a few with the help of a net and rake, but many will be lost. A stinking fish massacre. I'm so sad about this.   Mark would scoop them up with the rake and fling them up to me and I would go chase them down and throw them in the bucket.  Mark took the ones we were able to save over to my parents pond and the lake they have in their neighborhood. Hopefully they will thrive in their new homes.

****Scratch the hole getting filled in, unless you want to say filling in with water is the same thing as dirt.  That's right folks, one load of dirt was pushed in and can you believe we've had over 24 hours of straight rain?   The stinking hole that would not hold any water is filling up by the minute.  I guess the fish live another day.  Maybe we need to stage another fish rescue?  Crazy.  I cannot complain, I LOVE the rain and if you have ever been to West Texas you know this is not typical weather.  If we had beautiful trees and mountains, I would think that we were living in Seattle.

Wish me luck, T and I have a 12 miler to knock out in the morning.  I wouldn't mind having to do a few miles in the rain, but I'm not quite sure about 12?  I also didn't plan on starting triathlon swim training in the midst a marathon training.  Ha!

So...was that there when you moved in? Or did you dig and it didn't hold water? I thought they usually test the soil to make sure it will hold first? So confused. Funny about the rain, though. It seriously has not rained all summer, so 24 hours of it was such a blessing!!!
