Heavenly Trip: Day 1

I have a lot of back tracking to do since I didn't post for almost an entire week.  I'm sure some of you are cheering that I gave you a break for a bit.  Anywho, Labor Day weekend Mark and I planned a getaway so that we could recharge our batteries and celebrate our 10 year anniversary a little late.  Who are we kidding, our 10 year lasts all year long, right?  We may need a trip again later this year?  Mark surprised me about two months ago by planning an entire trip to California to see Napa Valley and San Francisco.  I have a feeling this post is not going to make a bit of sense because I am distracted by the PERFECT weather we are having this Saturday morning!!
A little crazy hair, flat to my head, but bouffant on the sides.  Who knows what was going on?
To get us started, let's discuss how I passed the travel time on the way to CA.  Did you know they have recliners at DFW airport?!?  How awesome is that!  Bonus is that since our flight was delayed, we were lucky to grab them and relax for a bit.  I'm sure glad that I didn't listen to Mark and leave my snacks behind at the house.  He ended up having to buy a $4 bag of peanuts while I enjoyed my "free" bag of Smartfood Popcorn.  Can we say delicious?  Can we also say even more delicious because I won the debate over how we needed to travel with snacks and I was able to prove my point?  LOL.  Onward... oh, by the way, my skirt looks really short in this picture, but it is actually a dress that was shorter in front and long in the back, weird sounding I know.

What a great read!  Can I just say that I want to be the Athleta model who keeps showing up in all the athletic clothing adds and the cover of Runner's World.  Danielle Halverson, you are my fitness hero!  Did you know that all the mannequins in the Athleta's stores were molded to replicate her body? Incredible!  Also, the pancake recipes in this issue were over the top enticing.  I was starving after reading.  Wow, can we say ADD???  This is suppose to be about the trip...
Moving on....once we landed at SFO we grabbed the rental car and headed toward Santa Rosa.  Well, since our flight was delayed out of DFW we hit Friday afternoon traffic.  Who would mind sitting in traffic when you have rolling hills and beautiful vineyards to look at.  I would probably prefer to get stuck in traffic everyday, oh, and I would also drive a convertible so that I could take in the cool air.
So this picture isn't that great of our drive, but I posted it because you could see the Golden Gate bridge just ahead of us on the right side of the road, above the trees.  I was giddy at that point.  The fog was around that day so San Francisco wasn't the most beautiful part of the drive until we got a bit further out.
That's better......

Yes, even better!
Don't you agree, traffic would not bother me one bit if I had to look at this all the time!  Once in Santa Rosa, we drove straight to our hotel called, The Vintner's Inn.  It really was beautiful with a vineyard surrounding the entire property.  Each room had a balcony or porch and a fireplace.  It felt a bit like a B&B but without any owners to bother you.  It was divine!  We also enjoyed our dinner at John Ash, which is a restaurant on the property.   They have this aioli sauce that they gave me the recipe for, I'm bringing it to every get together and I am never sharing.  You will have to beg.  Okay, I may share a bit, but I must hear, Pretty Please With A Cherry On Top.
The Event building they use for parties, weddings, etc.
Mark taking our bags to our room.
The balcony on the top and the middle window was our room!  Perfect!
You all know how I love Hydrangeas!!
The back side of the property and the beginning of the vineyards.  To the left there was a hot tub and workout room.
Hot tub!  We enjoyed it the next morning after my hour long massage!!
Imagine getting married here!
Just some more pretty spots
Our room, a 50mm lens does not capture the room very well I have some others from my cell phone that were able to fit it all in.....
A half bottle of wine to welcome guests

Alright, that was photo overkill, but I want to have a little diary of our trip!  Also, I hope I can convince you all to go on a little getaway with your love to this place.   It was beautiful and relaxing AND quiet!!  When I started out this post I thought I could tell about it in one post, but have now decided I will have to break it up into each day.  So, if you are interested in where else we travelled on our trip make sure to check back.  The other thing is that I want to share is that we got incredible deals on each place we stayed and visited through TravelZoo.  I cannot say enough great things about that site and especially after all the things were were able to do because of the discounts we received.  Check it out!!
