Rainy Days and Projects

No this is not my backyard, just an example of one of my favorite things! Rain!!!

Ooooh how I'm loving this rain we've been having. I really am a rainy day gal and absolutely love that I can turn off my sprinkler system this week due to the abundance of precipitation. Our last water bill almost killed me.....literally. We are trying to grow our new grass and it takes alot of water for it to seed, spread and grow. UGH. So, I'm happy, our fish in the tank are happy and my body is thankful for these cool days. Have I mentioned before how ready I am for the Fall????? Pretty sure I mentioned it in one of my last posts. Anyway, I'm ready!! Because of all this rain I've been inspired to do some sewing projects. I can't really mention them right now because they are going to be gifts at Christmas, but lets just say I scored some awesome fabric yesterday at Hobby Lobby! Sew excited.....ha, ha, get it....s.e.w..... ha, ha. Shannon, this totally reminds me of the Laffy Taffy jokes in college. I'm so strange. Anywho, my dumb sewing machine decided to act up while I was in the midst of sewing my second project yesterday and I've been in a funk over it all day today. I'm contemplating taking it in to get fixed or go all out and get a new one that can do some extra fun things. Mark wants me to just get it fixed. Doesn't he know all the creative possibilities of a new machine????? Moving on....last week I was inspired to do some painting. When we built the house we just kept all of the colors neutral so I wanted to spice up Ella's room without painting the walls. What's the next best thing you ask?? A super large canvas, 40% off from H.L. I copied some of the birds off her sheets and voila! In Hayden's room I actually copied someone elses artwork on line. I guess its good that I have my blog private now so that I won't get caught copying artwork. I'm just not going to fork over $200 for a canvas I can sort of paint. Anyway, I'm proud of my little long legged Cowboy! It spices up Hayden's room too! I'm trying to stay busy and inbetween trying to teach Ella her letters, doing bible study with her and doing art projects with her, cleaning the house, cooking and trying to remain faithful to working out, I needed something fun for myself that I enjoy. So, on with the projects! Let me know if you see any that you find particularly interesting or cute. I'm up for the challenge right now. Oh, I've also included pictures of Ella's curtains. I bought them from the Pottery Barn outlet for $7 this past winter, but they were a little short for her windows, so I added fabric to the bottoms and I think they turned out cute. Just thought I'd share another project that I can cross off my list. The sun would shine in through the bottom of her curtains and her room stayed pretty bright. I need to probably add something else to her windows, but not right now. I also made some sheers for my room. I did them so they just cover the glass. You know how you put the rod directly on the door at the top and at the bottom of the window so the sheers stay gathered and don't float away from the window? It made it look custom, but mainly my kiddos can't pull them down. Thank goodness!

Oh, I thought, even though I've sent out emails about it, the reason my blog is private now is because I got a little too opinionated for some people. Nobody that reads my blog, but one that I found that I thought was a little over the top. It was a group of women that were just not encouraging and so I told them that they need to be a little more supportive of their fellow moms in this world. Well, they didn't like it and found my blog. I was very nice about it and they were too, but it just creeped me out that they found MY blog and posted a comment to me to let me know they found me. So, for now my blog is private, but after a few weeks and they've forgotten about me I might make it public again. I know you guys don't like having to sign in to see if I've updated. That's all for today folks! Pray for more rain!!!

Your projects look great. We may need to have a sewing day. Get the guys to take the kids and make something fun. Then we would not be limited by just nap time. I guess one can only dream!! Glad you guys could come over this week. We need to do it agin. See you sunday

You always make me laugh! I MISS YOU! But moving right along...here's my comments! :)

1. You are very busy and handle everything so well...but if something has to go, KICK THE WORKING OUT! If I looked as good as you do, I wouldn't even spend the time and energy thinking about such a ridiculous thing as working out!! You are about the cutest little thing I've ever seen! In stead, come over here and lets eat icecream, cause my baby wants some!! :)

2. WOW!!! You have more talent in your pinky toe than I have in my whole body! Look at you and your canvases (?)! You are so good!

3. I love the rain, too...but Jake and Jack sure has missed playing outside...and I have missed them playing outside, too!

4. I so think you need a new sewing machine. And Mark, I hope you are reading this! :)

That's all for now.

Love ya! Hope your day is great today. I don't think I've talked to you today yet...how weird! I'll call ya in a bit and maybe we can plan when we're gonna get together!!!

I love, love, love the rain. So wonderful! And you don't want to know about our fall...ha! summer is just about over. It's in the mid 80s during the day and high 50s in the morning! Jealous, I know! ;) Our projects consist of painting, tiling, and doing huge projects that are way over our heads, but with a little help from Lowe's, we can make it. I can't sew...well, haven't tried in 20years, but it seems like everyone else does. Maybe I should put some effort into this...hmmm...

I completely forgot you were private, so I've been wondering where the new post is...duh!!

LOVE the canvas in Ella's room (Hayden's too, but you know I'm partial to little girl's rooms). I'm inspired for Morgan's room! And, the curtains are cute too! Can't wait to see your Christmas projects! I need to start the girl's Halloween costumes soon...I wish we lived closer so we could "project" together!!

Mark, give Meredith the fancy sewing machine. She could make you MONEY!!!!

There is no way you did that cowboy canvas! Totally amazing! If your sewing machine is fixable, I might be interested in buying it from you. I'll have to talk w/ hubby first though.

Love your projects! I can't believe someone would be critical of you. You are a wonderful mom and quite amazing in all the special things you do for your kids (like the ladybug gift wrapping...wow!). Keep on going "over the top"!
