The Girls Room

Ella's 5th birthday is coming up at the end of the month and she has been requesting for months now to have bunkbeds in her room.  In the not too distant future, Macy will begin to share a room with Ella and we figured in order to allow the girls more floor space that the idea of ditching the queen sized bed and doing twin bunks would be beneficial.  This is a picture of Ella's room before:

This is after:

I am really excited to say that I was able to split her Pottery Barn quilt and seam it up the side and it fits perfectly on the bunks.  Also, since her original bed was a queen, I had double the pillows to cover it all the way across, so now both beds have their own pillows!  Exciting to save money!!  Another plus was that I had saved a duplicate bolster pillow that we used to keep Ella from falling out of her bed when she was little.  I had recovered it to use in Hayden's room, but it really didn't ever look right.  Thankfully I kept the original cover for it and just put it back on!  High five for me!!

Lastly, I had to do a little artwork to make it a "Sisters" room!  I thought the saying was cute, "Best friends are we, my sister and me."  I wanted to do something that went along with my bird canvas and so that's where the bird nest in the tree ties it together.  Ignore the font.  Ignore my handwriting with paint.  Ignore it all really.  Ugh.  My printer is down and to make things look better when I write on canvases I use my projector and print off what I want to write on the computer so that I can make sure it is perfect.  Too bad my computer is not recognizing my printer and I'm not patient and so therefore you get a terrible font and handwriting on a canvas.

Don't you love Ella's lovely unicorn artwork.  We had to leave that up.  Also, love the "loopstick" as Ella calls it.  She loves her flavored chapstick.  I'm surprised Miss Macy hasn't eaten it yet, when I'm not around.  I am planning on taking some pictures of the two of them and trying to do a collage over the years once they get a bit bigger.  Should be a fun work in progress!

Another project I've been working on is my yard.  I just planted 9 crepe myrtles to help hide the drainage easement.  This is not my picture as mine are still little.  I did hot pink and alternated with white all the way across.  Hopefully they'll look like this in the future.  I got this picture here.

I have several plants on order from several online nurseries, but I'm looking forward to this hopefully popping up in my yard next Spring!!!
Peony

Sea Foam Roses
Wisteria
Nikko Hydrangea

Graham Thomas Roses
Creeping Mother of Thyme

Angelique Tulips

I'm not counting on all of these to grow, nor am I counting on any of them looking like what is pictured above, but a girl can dream, right?  They are all said to grow in this zone so we will cross our fingers and pray that my brown gardening thumb will turn green!!!  Wish me luck!!

I love the room. I am very impressed that you used the same quilt for the beds. That is great! I love pottery barn and would have wanted to salvage and use what I could instead of re-buying the items. Kudos to you. I want to do something similar in my daughters room too.

Hydrangeas are so beautiful. So beautiful, in fact, they look fake. They grew nicely in PA. I really doubt they will survive in Texas, but let me know if they do and I may try my green thumb, too.
