Random title, yes. I'm referring to my ability as an electrician. I am bragging on myself right now because not only did I just, finally, clean out my car, but I was able to repair the DVD player without any manly help or moolah. I'm telling you, I probably just saved us the time and money to have one of Ella's two DVD's removed from the car player. Yes, while Ella was alone in the car for a split second, she decided to put another DVD into the player while one was already going. The crazy thing is that the player continued to work randomly, but was making a horrible sound. Well, I kind of figured there was another DVD in there so I was trying to use tweezers, needle nose pliers, etc. trying to get the dumb disc out. No luck. So, I've been dreaming of how to repair the thing over the past couple of days, but finally got brave enough to completely remove the player from our ceiling. I wouldn't resort to this type of thing normally, but it is my sanity on car trips. I'm a desperate woman!!! Voila, removed several screws and a couple more from the back and I was able to look inside and see the purple Barney DVD I despise so much flipped over upside in the player. Once I fanagled it out the other disc came out easily. Yippee! It now works beautifully and congrats to me for not losing all the screws while putting it back together. I'm for hire if anyone needs some car work.......ha, ha, ha. Did I forget to mention that this morning I had just taken the car in to have the CD player repaired. Yep. When it rains it pours. Mark kindly reminded me of our warranty after I told him how much it was going to cost to repair it. Oops. So, I can save money some ways and spend it in others.Hayden is officially 11 months old!! I cannot believe it. I'll save my sappy, soupy post for next month about how amazed I am about how this past year has flown and how great it has been. He is getting so big!! Still a momma's boy though. Wow. That is an understatement of the year.
3 Weeks. That is the amount of time I've been told it may be until we're in our house. I'm not holding my breath after my visit to the house today. Looks like we've found the weak link......the flooring guys. Wow they're slow and sure do like to take LONG lunch breaks. I think I may have 3 small rows of hardwood since Monday. I'm pretty sure, no, let's make that for certain, that Mark and I were faster laying the wood in our kitchen than these guys. All of our big light fixtures and can lights are in. The door knobs, drawer pulls, fans, light/switch plates and doorstops are all in too. The only lighting remaining to be put in are the florescents. I think I'm going to go back to my very original prediction of our move in to sometime after May. Yes, a little melodramatic, but if we get in before then, I won't be disappointed. I got my hopes up there for a little while, but reality is setting in. I really wanted to be in our new house by Hayden's birthday. It could still happen.......we'll see!!

I know it must be frustrating to have to wait on the flooring guys! I would be upset, too. BUT...having put in the hardwood in our "flip that house" project in Hershey, I would rather WAIT than do it myself. Did you guys put in hardwood yourself, too? Man, what a headache...I mean backache. I never thought we'd finish putting it down, sanding, staining, polyurethane-ing...you know! We won't do that again! You must be so excited about the new house. The "flip that house" has ended for Mark & Meredith...maybe for us soon, too! ;)
