Every Man's Dream....

This is Mark on a 334 Bobcat Excavator.
This is Mark digging with the Excavator.
And this is the result of Mark digging in our backyard with the Excavator.

Pretty sure I should be hearing those manly sounds and grunting right now. I think that we have officially taken the "Do It Yourself" projects to the next level. Friday, Mark began his work on digging us a stock tank in our new backyard. Yes, ladies and gents, my husband wants to be able to fish in our backyard. We do have a rather large backyard with not alot of great soil, but some great clay down around 8-11 feet below ground. So, since some other men in our new neighborhood have a tank in their backyard, Mark decided we needed one too, to "help" with the yard work. In the beginning this was going to be huge, but after we began work it looks as though it is going to take a bit longer to dig the hole. So it is slowly dimishing in size as the weekend goes on. It really has been a fun project thus far and I actually got a chance to jump on the big rig and do some digging. I'm not going to lie and say that I'm any good at it, but it was fun. I was totally against this project in the beginning, but I believe it will be alot of fun for Ella and Hayden someday to go out their with their Dad and fish or play. For all you other Moms out there we are going to have a fence that separates the tank from the backyard so that the kids can't get out there without us. That was definitely a deal maker/breaker for me. I want it to be safe. Now on with the house pictures. Like I said earlier in the week, they are suppose to start on the flooring and tile on Monday. Tuesday I'm running to Ft.Worth to pick up my lighting so they can install them on Wednesday. We had our driveway and circle drive poured this last week so it is really beginning to take shape. There is still some painting on the outside to be completed, but it should be done Monday too. They still have to paint/stain the columns and the front doors and the trim at the top near the windows. Oh, one other thing, when the Excavator was delivered on Friday, the guy dropping it off took out our neighbors beautiful rock/brick mailbox. No worries, they were able to take care of it, but I was worried we would have neighbor problems if we didn't. The neighbors were great about it and I'm thankful that the owner of the rental equipment place took responsibility. Definitely a plus!!
Outdoor kitchen and fireplace outside our bedroom. Not finished yet.

It is coming along great. I love your back yard. It is so funny that you mentioned the fence because that is the first thing that came to my mind. I have a friend that has a pool without a fence, so any water thing in the back yard makes me immediatly think fence. Must be a mom thing!! Faith's tubes are tomorrow, so we can plan out trip now. When do you want to hit the road??

Your house looks beautiful. We will have to get together sometime since you are closer to the metroplex. My hubby was just in Abilene this week. Would have come but it was a work thing.
