Now that I'm feeling healthy and recovered from all the crazy back stuff, my workouts have started to become more regular and knowing that my Doctor is behind my running and training, I feel good to go all out. Don't worry, I'm not killing myself over it, but I am taking a different approach. Before the back injury I was not being complete with my training. I would just go out and run. Get in the car. Drive home. No wonder I ended up hurt! So, this time around I have been trying to get back into the old groove of lifting weights and cross training a bit so that I'm not over using more muscles than others. The past couple of nights Mark and I have run up to the high school and worked out at the Doghouse while the kiddos run around on the field and play basketball. Ella is very intrigued by working out and wants to lift weights. Hayden not so much and Macy is definitely more interested in it being a place for gymnastics rather than chasing down her bigger siblings. That being said, Mark and I have to take turns during the workout to get the kids going in a different direction. However, I am loving it! Last night I wanted to do some speed work, just to get my muscles doing something else, so I did some 200m repeats. The kids tried to chase us down and then would go back to the field to kick the soccer ball around. After I made myself look like a complete fool for trying to sprint, we headed inside to lift. Mark and I have always loved working out together and have not been able to do it over the last 6 years so it is nice to actually have a place that we can be together and the kids still have a good time. It is funny to have the kids begging to go back up there to "workout".
This morning I was proud of myself for getting up and joining my running buddy for a 4 miler. It was pretty windy which I am sooooooo over. I'm also kind of doubting a long run this weekend due to the 95+ degree weather. I mean when have we been at 102 in May? Ridiculous!
Completely going back to training stuff.....I would like to get into biking just to take the pressure off of my back, but after going to the bike shop here a few weeks ago, I could not decide which type of bike I would like to spend the money on. So, that being said, if any of you have any insight, let me know!
As I said yesterday I'm going to be doing this more often........Here are some more things I love!
Dancing!! I can't believe I left that off the list yesterday, definitely a duh moment
Singing
Baseball Games, I just love the atmosphere
Hot Shot on the History Channel.....it is a reality shooting competition (guns, bows, hatchets, you name it they sling it and I'm just amazed at their accuracy!)
Discovery Health Channel, because I'm strange and I love it all.
My Day Planner......I know everyone has gone digital, but I still like my planner I can write in, it is also my running journal.
Greek Salad Dressing, Ranch, Balsamic Vinegar, Feta Cheese, Banana Peppers.....okay mouth is watering now.
On that note, I should sign off and get Hayden ready for school! Hasta Lasagna! (Oh, I love that too!)
