Lightroom and Photoshop

June is quickly flying by and that only means one thing.  Nope, not that we are getting closer to the middle of summer.  More devastating than that.  It means in 19 days my trial version of Lightroom 3 will be over.  I have had it for months because Adobe had made it available in Beta version until it's release, so unlike their normal 30 day trials, this one has been going on since February.  How evil.  I have fallen in LOVE with this editing software, but with the lovely, low price of $299, I will not be purchasing it.  Argh.  If all of this were not bad enough, I've also had the Photoshop CS5 trial going on for the month of June as well.  Well, it too will be over and I definitely will not be able to get it because at $1899, I guess that doesn't actually fall into the budget.  I am dreading the end of the month.  Anyone else sad about this?  I've decided that Adobe must be a very mean spirited company to do this to novice photographers of the world.  Build them up and then let them down.  Oh well.  I'm happy to go back to editing with my Corel, but it cannot replace my beloved Lightroom.  Someday.  Word to the wise, if you know that you are not going to be able to make this spendy little purchase, then I suggest not even trying it out.  It only means heartbreak.  So, unless anyone wants to hire me as a photographer so I can pay for these dudes, I'm off to go find someone's blog that must be doing a giveaway.  There's gotta be at least one!!!

Lightroom, Lightroom...yes, I hear about this all the time. Sad, sad. I can't believe it's so expensive! Fortunately, we have an "in". Sorry, not trying to make you jealous. Well, it turns out Penn State has a discount (I think most universities do, so look for your "in".), and Chad can get it for $100. Crazy, huh? Well, lucky for us it's coming out soon. Since I only have 3 weeks left, we have to HURRY! So he's getting it for Father's Day. You can come over and use it...in all your free time. :) You guys crack me up. From time to time I hear the same things in my house as I do on your blog. Photographers can be obscessive that way...at least mine can!

(From Chad) I'm not familiar with Corel, but don't forget GIMP editing software. It is free and is a very powerful layers based editor like photoshop. There are many youtube and web based tutorials specifically for GIMP, but many photoshop tutorials are generic enough that they will work too.
