Thanksgiving

Happy Late Thanksgiving to everyone! This is a little behind, but hey, I still made it in the month of November, so I'm okay. :) Actually I wanted to wait because I needed to have pictures from our big event to post. We take turns swapping Thanksgiving and Christmas with our families and this year we had a good time hosting everyone at our home. I think we had around 45 people, which was challenging to fit everyone, but it worked out great!!! We really enjoyed the company and getting a chance to catch up with several family members that live out of state. Unfortunately, Mark's grandfather passed away at the beginning of the week which was very hard, but it was wonderful that all of the family was able to come together and be there for each other at that time. We were able to celebrate his life and have a special time remembering the wonderful Christian man that created this family. Some pictures to commemorate the event.......

Here is the living room set up. There are two other tables set up that you cannot see. But this giving you an idea.....
Here's the food!!! This was after everyone had been through the line. Can we say delicious!!! Thanks to the family we had a terrific meal and somehow I ended up not having to cook. I lucked out and l'd say everyone lucked out too that they didn't have to eat my cooking......ha, ha, ha.
If you've ever been around the Powell family you would know that a gathering would not be complete without some entertainment. Thanks to Mark, his dad and a great family friend, we were all entertained.
This is some of the family sitting around after we dismantled some of the tables so we could move around. Of course we had to have some Football going on in the background!

More family!Macy's first Thanksgiving with her cousin Lindsay. Macy was a little off her routine and not a happy camper.
Thanks to my good friend Kim, I had these great containers to serve the tea in. Yummy almond tea!!! My favorite. Not sure if it can really pass as tea, but it does have some sugar in it!!! :)

I got this idea from a cute decorating book and loved it.....I decorated the top of photo boxes with fall leaves scrapbooking paper and then put shredded paper inside. I put 5 Gala apples in the box and then typed up my grandmother's apple crisp recipe. I gave a box to each family that came to Thanksgiving as a way to say thank you for coming and also to share something special from my family. As you know my grandmother passed away in September and this was a neat way to remember her as well. I really enjoyed making these and I was excited that they turned out the way I wanted.
This is them set up on the back of the piano.
Just for a comparison here is Ella at the same age and outfit as Macy in the picture above her. Freaky!!!

Oh my goodness! Before I read your last sentence my first thought was, how did Macy take a picture in their old house in Midland? Then I realized that was impossible. I can't get over how they look like twins! Thanks for hosting Thanksgiving. You did a great job of preparing everything!
