Hope all the Mother's out there had a fabulous day with their families or that you had a wonderful day celebrating your Mom! We had a great day which I neglected to take pictures of. I think I had one thought about it, but was too caught up in hosting that I quickly forgot. I was thankful to have both my own Mom and my Mother in law at my house for lunch, as well as, my brother and his family. It made for a special day to have my family all together. I did get a chance to take a picture of my table the day before. I was really happy about the roses I got from Sam's. I had seen on Martha Stewart's website how she had cut gift bags and put tulips in them and fell in love, so I set out to do the same, but all Sam's had out were roses, but I think they were a hit.
As for our meal, if you are a fish lover or maybe if you're not, you all must try Steelhead Trout. Yum. Mark found this a couple months ago and being the fish lover that he is, brought it home. I was convinced it was salmon because it is pink. So, the first time he brought it home we convinced ourselves that we were eating salmon, but with a different flavor. Long story short, we've now had it several times and yes, it is in fact Trout, but the best tasting fish I've ever had. Here was our menu, and thank you to The Pioneer Woman website for several recipes:
Steelhead Trout
Roasted Ricotta Stuffed Tomatoes (PW)
Creamed Spinach (PW)
Hot Crash Potatoes (PW)
Fruit Salad (Mother in law)
Deviled Eggs (My Mom)
Fresh Homemade Rolls (Mother in law)
Italian Cream Cake (My Mom)
Tea
Lemon Lime Punch
So, I definitely had some help making the meal complete, but it ended up being great! I am also thankful to my great husband who helped a ton getting everything together and cleaning up for me at the end of the big cooking fiasco. I'm thankful too that he has allowed me to be a stay at home mom with my precious kiddos. I am the luckiest woman to have such terrific children and husband. My family is definitely the most important thing and I am thankful to God for such a wonderful blessing!
